Carrying More Than You Can Say Out Loud
There is a particular kind of exhaustion that does not come from doing too much. It comes from holding too much.
The weight of unspoken responsibility. Of being the one others rely on. Of noticing what is off before anyone else does, and quietly compensating for it. Many of the leaders I work with would never call themselves overwhelmed. They are capable, trusted, high-performing. And yet they are carrying more than they can say out loud, and that weight does not disappear when it goes unnamed. It settles into the body, into the way decisions get made, into the quiet erosion of the very clarity their leadership depends on.
So the question worth sitting with is not “can I handle this.” You already know you can.
It is “what am I carrying that was never mine to carry, and is this the highest use of who I am?” Naming the load does not mean dropping it. It means bringing it into the light, where it can finally be examined, shared, or set down. If this resonates with you, you are not failing. You are likely operating at a level where clarity matters more than endurance, and that is exactly where this work begins.
